How to have a better relationship with your child

The number one driver for people coming into my process is normally they want to have a better relationship with their children, to bond with their children and be more present because they are so overwhelmed. If you are in my space I am assuming you do you also want a more present and connected relationship with your children. If you ask yourself why can I not bond with my child, that is ultimately going to be defined by the relationship that you have with yourself because we can only meet others at the depths to which we have met ourselves.

I'm going to explain just a basic premise of it with my Circle of Raar, it’s a virtuous circle, it goes round more than once and it keeps going round. We have connection, compassion and courage, this is the premise of how people become wholehearted.

We start with connection, it goes round to compassion and it finishes with courage.  Now when I say this is a virtuous circle what I mean is that we have to go round the...

Why your integrity as a parent is everything.

Have you heard the phrase "If you stand for nothing you'll fall for everything"? Our children are trying to expand and grow, and it's our job to be the container that shows them how to be true to yourself, and how to have healthy boundaries in life.

It's our job as a
parent to be clear on what we stand for, and what we will tolerate in life, as a model for our children of how to stand and respond in alignment with our values and have radical response-ability.

It’s time to empower ourselves and our children, and be the change, don't you know?

What we do not heal, we transfer to our children

One of the easiest ways to disconnect from pain is to disconnect from our bodies. Yet this leads to emotional dysregulation that can spiral out of control. Numbing behaviours show up in all sorts of ways, from substance addiction to scrolling addiction, from shopping to gambling to eating and more. Denial is one of the strongest things to break.

What is required of us as adults is to model real self-care, so where do we begin when we're breaking the cycle of trauma and consciously learning this for ourselves?

Watch, and let me know what this brings up for you.

Thoughts Drive Feelings

Happiness...it doesn't come from stuff or external validation. It comes from inside. So how do we tap into, or generate it? Beliefs are the engines that drive thoughts, thoughts drive feelings and feelings drive behaviour.

When Parents Avoid Their Children's Emotions

When children have strong emotions, people often either don't know how to handle them, or they react from their own patterns or a place of unconscious programming from their childhood. But there are other ways...

Feelings and living to your fullest expression

Our emotions are a gateway, they govern so much...but underneath there are often wounds, and when someone touches on them we sometimes say they "made us feel" a certain way.

In LaLa Tigers we believe in taking responsibility for our own emotions.

When we tune into taking responsibility for our feelings, and choose to explore and feel them deeply, only then can we fully express our brightest selves.

Get in the boat

If your child's feeling lost at sea, you need to get in the boat.
Kneel down with them and label the emotion, so your child's clear on what's actually happening. Then you can guide them.

Your child is not difficult

If a child is struggling to be present, are they really being difficult at three years old? The moment we label them as difficult, we are judging them. It helps to take a step back and see what's really going on. It may be that they need help with their emotional wellbeing...perhaps, instead of being difficult, they're having a difficult time.
