Self care awareness for busy mums

Self care awareness

Many of us know that as parents we have to prioritise self care in order to be able to take care of others.
But if you're really honest, how many of these self care activities, the self-compassion things, are you actually doing? The importance of self care for mums cannot be overstated. Are you meditating? Dancing? Are you doing any of the self care ideas you read about or feel drawn to?

Or like most mums, are you doing nothing? A harsh lesson that we all have to learn if we want to grow and expand is that nobody is coming to save you. Nobody is coming to do this for you, and if you reach this point in your life and you're thinking this sucks,  there must be a better way. I promise you, there is!

The real problem though, is that when we don't give love to ourselves, then we really don't have enough to give away to others. Disconnection from self and our own needs, leads to a lack of empathy for others.
When parents lack...

How to have a better relationship with your child

The number one driver for people coming into my process is normally they want to have a better relationship with their children, to bond with their children and be more present because they are so overwhelmed. If you are in my space I am assuming you do you also want a more present and connected relationship with your children. If you ask yourself why can I not bond with my child, that is ultimately going to be defined by the relationship that you have with yourself because we can only meet others at the depths to which we have met ourselves.

I'm going to explain just a basic premise of it with my Circle of Raar, it’s a virtuous circle, it goes round more than once and it keeps going round. We have connection, compassion and courage, this is the premise of how people become wholehearted.

We start with connection, it goes round to compassion and it finishes with courage.  Now when I say this is a virtuous circle what I mean is that we have to go round the...

Changing negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs

Change negative thoughts to positive

Today I want to talk about negative patterns of thinking , our responsibility and choices. How to change negative thinking, blocks, and limiting beliefs and be a calm and happy parent, how to break bad habits without yelling. It’s about choice, it's something I’ve been digging into this week with my own growth. It blows my mind how many choices we have. The choices that we have, that we have the opportunity to get to make, the choices that we don’t get to make, and sometimes the choices we’re procrastinating on or avoiding.

What are the choices that I’m not taking, where are the opportunities that I have, what are the choices that I’m avoiding, and what’s going on with me underneath that? If you’ve been in my space for a while you’ll know I like to dig into things.

It’s always about the thoughts, and what thoughts do we sometimes not take responsibility for. I know that if...

Installing the belief that you are worthy

Our belief systems (which drive our thoughts, which trigger emotions, that drive behaviour) are pretty much fully formed by the time of age seven.

What if we flip the transformation and healing model around and start from birth?

What if we were being hugely intentional in order to create a lens that will create a positive self-image, and make sure that positive self-worth, positive self-belief is already installed?

That's why I work with parents of under-sevens, because this is where we have the most impact.

What would you say to your 6 year old self?

When did you stop playing and getting involved in things like you did as a kid? What would be possible for you if you didn't limit yourself according to the labels, naysayers, or the boxes people try to put you in? Can you imagine what you'd be capable of if you gave yourself permission?

I invite you to think about what would have been possible for you if you hadn't allowed other people to define you. Then see how that may be showing up in your parenting. In my programmes I allow parents to show up in a way that allows them and their children to truly shine with self-belief, and believe that they are enough.

Welcome your failure and stay open

Embrace your failure as a learning opportunity, practice a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset. Life is a process, and a cycle of change and transformation. When something is finished and order appears, there's a natural progression towards the opposite, as nothing in life can stay static. The only moment we have is now

Choose to look for the gold and the gift in the challenging experiences.

Change your mindset, change your life.

Raising children who are honest kind and brave.

Connection, compassion, courage - I call this The Circle of Raar!
And as I teach in my programmes, it needs to be gone around first for yourself, to be a wholehearted human.

The biggest gift you give to your kids is the gift of self-awareness.

What we do not heal, we transfer to our children

One of the easiest ways to disconnect from pain is to disconnect from our bodies. Yet this leads to emotional dysregulation that can spiral out of control. Numbing behaviours show up in all sorts of ways, from substance addiction to scrolling addiction, from shopping to gambling to eating and more. Denial is one of the strongest things to break.

What is required of us as adults is to model real self-care, so where do we begin when we're breaking the cycle of trauma and consciously learning this for ourselves?

Watch, and let me know what this brings up for you.

It's All Inside!

Of all the things you want for your children, happiness and confidence are always at the top of the list you tell me you wish for.

Enjoy this video from the archive! [12min watch, perfect with a cuppa].

As parents and early educators we have an amazing opportunity to guide the beliefs that children hold about themselves, that are formed on a 95% unconscious basis before the age of seven.

Parenting isn’t about mastering your child, it’s about mastering your mind. You don’t have a behaviour problem, you have a thinking problem…because we cannot control anybody else but ourselves. We’re in a relationSHIP, and the way that you change your ship is to change yourself.

Personal freedom involves doing things differently, thinking differently, feeling differently. Personal freedom takes courage. And it starts with changing your thinking. Everything starts with the inner work. Personal freedom starts by taking the journey within.

Fear of What Others Think Of Us

Fear of what other people think of us keeps us small, and can lead us to hide parts of ourselves or avoid taking steps towards the life we desire. It can lead us to perfectionism, or people-pleasing, and ultimately doesn't serve us. So, what is the antidote? Watch, and let me know what this brings up for you.
